Lesson 4 Chapter Summary and Revision
Up till this point you have learnt to use the definite(le, la, l’, les) and indefinite (un, une, des) articles
Now we are to revise by adding a little more by learning names of places that will take which articles. To recapitulate definite articles point to specific places, persons, animal, place and thing.
The indefinite articles point at objects generally (which includes humans and animals). In french definite articles identify specific places, then indefinite articles are used for types of places.
Eg:
Le KFC, Le Mr. Biggs (can be classified as “un restaurant”)
La France, La Belgique ( will be classified as “un Pays”)Preposition “de”
We usually come across a word “de” in French.
It means “from or of” depending on the context.Le mari de Marie = The husband of Mary ( Mary’s husband)
Je viens de la France = I come from France.
Elle vient du Nigéria = She comes from Nigeria
